I see what you mean, that is a bit of a catch 22. I have <a href="http://generallythinking.com/blog/how-to-be-happy-10-scientifically-supported-ideas/">this</a> post which give 10 happiness 'hacks', which might be useful.

I've been thinking about this whole 'striving for happiness' thing that's been popular lately (due in no small part to positive psychology). And whether it's right to strive for happiness as an end results or whether to see it as a resource, as this serious of posts shows it can be.

In other words, should you do happiness exercises because you want to be happy, or because you want to get into a relationship with someone? Kind of like the idea that you don't find love when you're looking for it. I might write a post on it at some point.

Seem to be a paradox. In my case, I notice I'm happier and more productive when in a satisfying relationship, yet when I'm alone (and lonely) for long periods, the problem is supposedly exacerbated by my not exuding enough happiness. Deep down inside we all realize that being happy will lead to more productive and relational lives - the trick is making it happen :).

Interesting insights on happiness. The positive mindset is the culprit of most of the happiness present in our lives. I guess my future relationships might multiply my happiness. :)
